Willian is a bit of a cult hero at Chelsea, but according to Jurgen Klopp, he should be a lot more than that.
The Liverpool coach is going to face the Brazilian winger’s new team, Fulham, this weekend, and in his press yesterday he praised not only the outfit, but especially the former Chelsea man.
“It is a really good football team [Fulham]. You have one of the greatest players the Premier League ever saw [Willian] still going and going and going,” the German coach said in quotes picked up by the Daily Mirror.
Willian, who has scored 113 goals in his career, spent the majority of it at Chelsea, where he came up against Klopp’s Liverpool on many occasions, and won many trophies.
By the end of his almost decade long spell some fans were starting to grow frustrated with him, but his continued success at Fulham and praise like this from the outside is a great reminder for those fans who eventually got tired of him that he was a top player. Plenty of other teams have bad memories about getting terrorised by him.
Let’s hope he can pull something out of the bag against Liverpool tomorrow…
