Chelsea haven’t yet had too much to cheer about this current season as they continue to stumble, but there are certainly some potential success stories brewing up.
Mauricio Pochettino, the Chelsea players, and the owners of the club will all believe and hope that things will get much better for them this season as they look to try and climb back up the league.
But to do that, they will need all of their top performers to step up and put in consistently good performances.
One player who has done that so far is new summer signing Cole Palmer. The 6ft 2in attacker has made a real impact since arriving from Manchester City, and Blues cult hero John Obi Mikel has been raving about the youngster this week.
We hear a lot from Mikel lately, and he’s always great to listen to and really says it how it is.
Mikel has been praising Pochettino and Palmer.
Speaking about the pair on CNN (cited by The Chelsea Chronicle), the former Chelsea player said: “What he does with young players is absolutely fantastic. Look what he’s doing with Palmer now. He’s come from Manchester City. He didn’t play as many games as he wanted. He’s come to Chelsea and he’s performing really well. It’s like a different player.
“He’s creating chances, scoring goals and also the confidence that he has, the arrogance that he has now. And I think that transfers from the manager. The manager’s probably given him that and said: ‘Go out there, be who you are and perform the way you want to perform.’ And that freedom has just given him that.
“He expresses himself, a little bit of arrogance, a little bit of cheekiness here and there. That’s what we want, that’s what we need and the performances will come with that.”
