Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation of Victor Osimhen, with Chelsea being one of the clubs interested in signing him.
The Blues are seemingly looking at a new striker for January if they can get one then, but the problem with that of course is the market is much tougher in the winter due to it being mid-season and clubs not willing to sell their best players through a season.
With Osimhen, it was always expected and believed that a summer move is most likely and Napoli will not entertain offers for the winter.
Last week as well, their president said in public that he believe Osimhen will sign an extension at Napoli anyway.
But Romano has thrown shade over that writing in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, today.
‘There’s no change to the Victor Osimhen situation guys. I keep repeating the same thing regarding January, and that is that I don’t expect the player to be made available by Napoli at that time,’ he wrote.
‘Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis seems fairly confident that his player will stay, suggesting that Osimhen’s new contract, offered last summer, is ready to be signed. My information is that, at the moment, the contract extension is not guaranteed yet, so it remains all open.
‘The Serie A side will keep insisting that they don’t want Osimhen to leave early in the new year, so it will need to be a crazy bid in order to tempt Napoli to do business. Otherwise Osimhen’s situation becomes a hot topic for the summer transfer window.’
We know Chelsea can do ‘crazy’ things and pulled off the Enzo Fernandez transfer mid-season last season, so literally anything is possible right now and I certainly wouldn’t be betting against Osimhen going to Stamford Bridge in January that’s for sure.
