The fact that Chelsea have signed new players in almost every position in the last year isn’t stopping them from being linked with new additions all the time.
With Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah looking likely to leave, and Wesley Fofana unable to stay fit, a new central defender is potentially on the agenda, and Catalan newspaper Sport (as translated by SportWitness) is claiming that the Blues are one of the teams seriously interested in Nice player Jean-Clair Todibo.
Long considered a talent, an early move to Barcelona didn’t quite work out. But he’s still just 23, and he’s part of the really exciting Nice team which are shining in Ligue 1.
It seems Newcastle are also interested, and we could see quite the bidding war if he keeps playing this well.
The piece states that the asking price for Todibo is €50m, with 20% of that going back to Barcelona as part of the sell on fee that look him back to France in 2021.
