Everton fans are starting to change their minds on Jack Harrison and were hugely impressed with his performance in Thursday’s shock 3-0 Premier League win against Newcastle United.
Sean Dyche’s side scored three times in the final 11 minutes of a hectic encounter at Goodison to beat their Champions League opponents and move out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Everton were sent tumbling into the bottom three by their 10-point deduction for breaking the top flight’s financial rules, but moved back into safety thanks to late goals from Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure and summer signing Beto.
Harrison played the full 90 minutes of the match in a central playmaking role behind centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Dyche’s 4-4-1-1 formation.
He has made only a fitful impact at Everton since joining on a season-long loan from Leeds United in the wake of their relegation to the Championship.
But, after arriving with a hip injury, he has started to win over the manager and the fans, and his start against Newcastle was his eighth in a row in the Premier League.
Those games have yielded three assists, as well as a goal against Bournemouth, and supporters have been impressed by his energy and tenacity.
