Leander Dendoncker must depart Aston Villa after being starved of opportunities.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Leeds United and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed he had earned his move from Wolves to Villa Park back in 2022, but it has not proved fruitful for the 28-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider (29 November), Everton are keeping tabs on Dendoncker for a move this January who is admired by manager Sean Dyche.
The Villans are willing to listen to offers for Dendoncker, who has made just two starts in all competitions this season and has seen just seven minutes of Premier League action and 119 overall.
Robinson feels that the Toffees could look to utilise loan signings this winter amid their financial strife, but backs them to secure the Belgian.
“I think Everton will be looking at the loan market,” he told Football Insider.
“Given their financial status and where they are at the moment, it’s difficult to see them attracting players.
“But Dendoncker is the kind of player they could get. He’s not playing for Aston Villa, he’s not getting enough minutes.
“He did extremely well at Wolves and got his move to Villa, but it just didn’t work out for him, in a similar way to Youri Tielemans at Villa.
“With Dendoncker, there should be an opportunity for him to move on.”
