23-year-old forward Morgan Gibbs-White was left out of Nottingham Forest’s last game with an abdominal injury, and many have questioned that this absence is due to a possible departure from the club. Tottenham are admirers of the forward, but yesterday Newcastle and Chelsea have both reportedly entered the race to sign the talented forward who has scored 7 Premier League goals since moving to Forest from Wolves.
Gibbs-White emerged through Wolverhampton Wanderers’ youth team, before making his debut in 2016-17 in the Championship for the club. After helping guide the team to the Premier League in 2018, Gibbs-White would regularly appear for the club, 26 times in the 2018-19 season, 7 the following year and 11 in 2020-21 for an eventual total of 48 top flight games. A move to Nottingham Forest followed in 2022, with the club paying £40 million including add-ons.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the starlet since selling Harry Kane last summer, and Chelsea‘s injury issues have forced the club into the transfer market. Likewise for Newcastle, who despite injuries have also revealed that Callum Wilson could leave the club in the January transfer window.
Gibbs-White was amongst the stars of England’s successful 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship tournament, but this year has demonstrated that he can also be one of the best players in the Premier League and is very useful from set pieces.
It is understood that Forest also have the potential threat of Financial Fair Play and could be forced to sell their top players this month.
