Manchester City are interested in a move for Brest left-back Bradley Locko ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window – but they’ll face competition for his signature from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
According to a recent report from GIVEMESPORT, Villa ‘have their sights set’ on a move for the French defender. Any club wishing to signing will be required to pay a fee of at least £25 million, with his current contract running until 2027.
While City may be able to offer Locko more money than the Villans, he would likely be given a greater share of playing time at Villa Park – as such, his next destination could depend on where his priorities in football lie.
Previously, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Locko, as have Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur [via The Hard Tackle]. As such, if the Sky Blues wish to get their hands on the 22-year-old, they have a lot of work ahead of them.
Who is Bradley Locko and what would he bring to Manchester City?
Bradley Locko is the quintessential modern full-back. While he is not the most imposing defender in the world at just 5ft 9, his exquisite technical skills and his ability to run down the wing at breakneck speeds make him an excellent player to have during a blistering counter attack.
While Locko has not scored any goals in Ligue 1 this season, he has notched up a trio of assists. Moreover, he has been in the starting XI for all of Brest’s league games in 2023/24.
What he lacks in size, he makes up for in defensive intelligence – for such a young player, his positioning and ability to read the game to prevent attacks is very impressive. At City, playing alongside world class full-backs such as Kyle Walker, he can only grow into an even greater defender.
