Manchester City transfer target Archie Gray could be sold by Leeds for £20m this summer, according to The Sun (via ManchesterCity.news).
The English tabloid claims that the Championship club’s failure to gain promotion back to the Premier League means they need to raise funds through player sales.
It was initially reported that Gray’s asking price was as much as £40m but it appears that he will now be on the market for half that figure.
The teenager made his senior debut for Leeds at the start of last season against Cardiff and he hasn’t looked back from there.
Gray made 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring 1 goal and contributing 2 assists.
What do fans need to know about Gray?
The 18-year-old is a central midfield player, but he has been regularly deployed as an inverted fullback by Leeds boss Daniel Farke. He started 30 games on the right-hand side of defence last campaign.
Gray has impressed pundits, opposition managers and players alike with his displays over the last 10 months. Back in May, Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass posted on X to praise him:
Archie Gray, 18. Incredible 🤌🏻

Of course, with Gray having not yet played in the Premier League, it would be a big step up for him if he were to secure a move to the Etihad. Based on what people have been saying about the youngster, though, it seems he could flourish under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola.
City will have competition for the player
It is believed that Premier League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham are also keeping close tabs on Gray’s situation at Leeds.
If The Sun’s reporting that he is available for £20m is accurate, there will likely be plenty of teams entering the race for the midfielder‘s signature over the coming days and weeks.
