West Ham United are set to receive a welcome financial boost as Said Benrahma’s permanent transfer to Lyon edges closer to completion
Lyon to Activate Purchase Clause: The French club is prepared to exercise their purchase option on Benrahma, securing his services for the pre-agreed fee of £12.3 million.
Previously restricted by financial limitations, Lyon has now obtained the necessary clearance to proceed with the transfer.
This sale will significantly increase West Ham’s summer transfer budget. With the potential sale of Flynn Downes also on the horizon, their transfer war chest could reach a total of £75 million.
Sky Sports’ chief transfer reporter Dharmesh Sheth says the deal will be completed this weekend, which is great news; as this Benrahma deal is crucial for generating much needed funds to top up our limited summer budget of £51.5 million, allowing us to pursue new signings.
Nevertheless, the question has to be asked..why such a small budget for such a large re-build?
