The Max Kilman to West Ham United transfer saga has been a long drawn out one already this summer.
West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui is said to be prioritising a move for Max Kilman, and the Hammers boss is even prepared to send a player the opposite way in a bid to sweeten the deal.
Central defence is an area where Lopetegui desperately needs to improve at the London Stadium, after we conceded 74 Premier League goals last season.
The 57-year-old Spaniard is said to be prioritising the addition of a new centre-back this summer, so he’s clearly very aware of the problem.
Kurt Zouma isn’t reliable enough from a fitness perspective anymore, whilst Nayef Aguerd is painfully ill-suited to Premier League football.
Kilman would be a big upgrade on both players as far as I’m concerned, and West Ham have apparently already made a £25 million bid for the 27-year-old.
However, Wolves are demanding closer to £45 million for the defender. Now the Hammers could be set to test the Black Country outfit’s resolve again…
New Max Kilman to West Ham info emerges
The Wolves defender has proven himself to be a top-class Premier League player over the past couple of years.
Lopetegui will know all about him, having managed him during his spell in charge at Molineux.

It’s little wonder as to why the Hammers boss might want Kilman at the London Stadium.
The Wolves ace is really strong in the air, commands his back-line with authority and is a well-renowned leader as well – he’s the current captain of Wolves don’t forget.
In 37 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season, the 27-year-old averaged 1.3 tackles, one interception, 4.8 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels.
He made 60.3 passes per game and recorded a completion rate of 86% (Who Scored).
Kilman would take us to another level defensively, and he’d be the perfect candidate to take over as the new club captain as well.
Now there has been a big claim suggesting that a deal to bring him to the London Stadium could well be on.
According to Give Me Sport, the Hammers are plotting a fresh bid for Kilman within the next few days.
And what’s more, the Wolves star wants to join West Ham.
Lopetegui simply just has to get this one done, as long as Wolves are willing to deal below £40 million.
If they’re not, West Ham need to move on from Max Kilman quickly and sign another centre-back. There are plenty of options out there, including Trevoh Chalobah, Nehuen Perez and Riccardo Calafiori.
