Following two solid seasons with with Bayern II in the Regionalliga, his senior debut and even his first senior goal, the time had come for Lovro Zvonarek to go on his first loan spell. Bayern Munich therefore agreed a season long loan deal for the 19-year-old Croatian with Sturm Graz. Going from the Regionalliga to the winners of the Austria Bundesliga is a big jump.
But this is a player who is used to handling pressure in a superb manner, which sporting director Christoph Freund accurately addressed via the club’s official website: “Lovro Zvonarek is a very exciting player who has everything he needs to hold his own in professional football. He was already captain in the Croatian first division in his home country at the age of 16, and at 19 he is already playing very mature football.”
Another reason this loan is such an exciting opportunity is that Sturm Graz have qualified for the Champions League. “We are convinced that he will take the next steps at Sturm Graz by gaining experience in the Bundesliga and Champions League. He has a strong character. We will closely follow his progress in the coming season from Munich.”
