The final of Euro 2024 is upon us. We’ve seen plenty of people give their two cents so far – and prominent journalist Fabrizio Romano is the latest name to weigh in. He thinks each team has a key player who will need to perform to their highest standard – for Spain, it is Barcelona’s Lamie Yamal, while for England, he chose Manchester City ace Phil Foden.
While many audiences have focused on the midfield battle between Jude Bellingham and Rodri, Romano believes that the key skirmishes will take place on the wings. He noted the importance of winning ‘individual duels’ out wide and how this will be ‘key’ to victory.
Furthermore, while Romano neglected to name an explicit scoreline, he thinks that the game will be ‘closely-matched’, calling both outfits ‘top teams’. Additionally, he also thinks that there is a strong chance the game will go to penalties.
Foden has not been at his best in the tournament thus far, having yet to score a goal or register an assist. Nevertheless, he came alive in England’s last game against The Netherlands – Foden caused their backline all kinds of problems with his clever movement and ability to fire off shots from improbable angles.
What did Fabrizio Romano say regarding Manchester City ace Phil Foden in the Euro 2024 final?
Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano said: “Euro 2024 final – I’m not good at score predictions so I leave this one, but I’m really looking forward to tonight’s final between Spain and England.
“I’m sure the game is going to be on players like Phil Foden and Lamine Yamal. More than in midfield, quality on the wing is gonna be key to win individual duels and win the game. It’s going to be exciting between two top teams, two closely-matched sides, and I could see it even going to penalties!”
