Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has hinted at a move to his former club Aston Villa after Unai Emery’s side dropped their interest in Barcelona’s Joao Felix.
Villa had an agreement to sign 24-year-old former Chelsea player Felix but decided to back out of the transfer which has raised questions.
Rumors suggest that Jack Grealish could move back to Villa Park this summer after he became out of favour with Pep Guardiola and ex-England manager Gareth Southgate.
According to the Mirror, Aston Villa is monitoring the situation with Grealish who could decide that he wants to leave for his former club.
Grealish made a big money move to Manchester City for £100 million in August 2021 but, hasn’t been able to become a consistent mainstay in City’s starting XI.
The 28-year-old’s inconsistency meant he wasn’t selected for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, surprising many fans before the tournament began.
Jack Grealish’s Aston Villa hint
The former Villa captain wants to return to Villa Park during his career. After leaving the club in 2021, he told Birmingham Live: “It’s a club that is so close to my heart and I hope to go back there.
“That’s always been in my mind. Ashley Young has done it and I want to do the same, 100 percent.”
Grealish’s form at Manchester City
Irish-born Grealish has had a lot of success at the Etihad. Since moving in 2021, he has made 125 appearances, scoring 14 goals and recording 18 assists.
However, many of his appearances have come via the substitutes bench which the ex-Villa captain will want to change.
If there is a lack of game time incoming for Grealish then there would be no reason why the winger wouldn’t be up for a move back to Aston Villa this summer.
