Man City star Jack Grealish ‘is ruled OUT’ of Community Shield clash with Man United after ‘suffering a late injury in training’

Manchester City‘s Jack Grealish will reportedly miss the Community Shield clash with Manchester United due to an injury. 

The 28-year-old was in line to start against the Red Devils having appeared in every pre-season friendly this summer. 

However, according to The Sun, Grealish will not be involved after suffering a late injury in training. 

The latest injury will come as a setback for the forward, who was left out of  England’s Euro 2024 squad 

Ahead of the final, Pep Guardiola also confirmed the news stating that the English winger sustained a minor injury in training earlier this week. 

‘Jack had a little bit of a niggle. He was in discomfort and didn’t feel good yesterday,’ Guardiola said. 

The 28-year-old was in line to start having been involved in all pre-season friendlies

‘We don’t have defenders,’ the Spanish coach added. ‘Akanji and Dias have only trained for the last three days and come straight into the team,’ he added speaking on 

Grealish endured a difficult campaign last season and was forced to watch from home as the Three Lions were beaten by Spain in the final.  

Grealish is hoping to return to his best again having also suffered injury problems last term. 

The former Aston villa star impressed Pep Guardiola during City’s tour of the United States this summer. 

‘What I’ve seen so far here, one week in the pre-season on tour, I loved it,’ Guardiola said. 

‘I don’t care how he performs, it’s every session his commitment and his trying, against Barcelona he made five or six shots, he was aggressive with the ball, that’s all, after that his quality will do the rest.

‘I know he’ll be a father soon and we’re so happy for that. All I ask of the players is that – you like to play football, yes, so play.

‘Hopefully he can sustain it until the end of the season and like the rest compete with everyone for one place in the starting XI, that depends on him.

Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Grealish for his performances during the US tour 

‘What I see in behaviours, in training and how you’re performing, as well as you do the more chance you have.’ 

As well as Grealish, City will be without Euro 2024 finalists John Stones, Kyle Walker, Phil Foden and Rodri after they recently returned to training following an extended break.
