Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has been very complimentary of Manchester City ahead of the 2024/25 season – he has backed the Sky Blues to win their fifth Premier League title in a row.
Sharpe said this reluctantly, being a former United player. Nevertheless, he remained objective, noting how City seem to grow stronger and stronger with each passing season. This a testament to the long term success of Pep Guardiola’s management, as well as City’s positive exploits in the transfer market.
Despite this, Sharpe noted Liverpool and Arsenal as potential challengers for City’s crown. He has been impressed with Liverpool’s pre-season exploits under the stewardship of new head coach Arne Slot and expects Arsenal to build on their recent successes.
During his time as a player, Sharpe is best known for his time at United, where he endured a tenuous relationship with Alex Ferguson. Outside of Old Trafford, Sharpe spent time playing for teams such as Leeds United, Bradford City and Portsmouth – he also won eight caps for England between the years of 1991 and 1993.
What did Lee Sharpe say about Manchester City ahead of next season?
Speaking with Safest Casino Sites, Sharpe said: “I think Manchester City will win the Premier League this season, as much as it pains me to say it as a former United player. They just keep getting stronger each year, and I can’t see anyone stopping them once again.
“I can see Arsenal and Liverpool challenging them. Arne Slot looks as though he’s continuing Jurgen Klopp’s legacy and they’ve been playing some good football in pre-season. Arsenal still looked strong last season despite not winning the league – they’ll definitely be up there again.
“I can’t see any team disrupting that top three. Manchester United will finish in the top four for me, but top three is a bit of a push.”
