Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is set to undergo a medical at Ipswich Town ahead of joining the club on a season-long loan deal.
The 28-year-old would spend the 2024-25 season on loan at the newly-promoted Premier League club should the move be processed, having returned to City from a six-month loan spell at West Ham United in June.
The midfielder is due to undergo a medical at Portman Road on Thursday (August 15) and to finalise details of the move.
The Athletic reported Everton explored a loan move for Phillips earlier this summer, while Fulham also carried an interest in the midfielder.
The former Leeds United midfielder would become Ipswich’s seventh signing of the summer window following the arrivals of Jacob Greaves, Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap, Conor Townsend, Ben Johnson and Arijanet Muric.
Phillips joined West Ham in the January transfer window, but his time at the east London club did not go to plan. The midfielder made 10 appearances during his loan spell and was sent off after being shown two yellow cards in a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in February.

Within weeks of City signing Phillips, Guardiola suspected he had made a mistake
The England international had limited minutes at City following his 2022 transfer to the club from Leeds, starting just two Premier League matches in his two seasons at the club — both after Pep Guardiola’s side had already secured the 2022-23 league title.
Despite being one of England’s standout players during the previous European Championship, Phillips has lost his place in the international setup and was not named in the preliminary 33-man squad for Euro 2024.
