According to a report from kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah has grown uneasy with his potential move to Bayern Munich as talks have slowed to a halt.
In addition, Tah might be feeling a little scorned by “empty promises” given the the framing that Bayern Munich has walked away from the bargaining table:
Jonathan Tah is starting to rethink his decision to leave Leverkusen and is slowly realizing that his dream of moving to Munich this summer has been shattered after Bayern effectively withdrew from the deal. When they negotiated a contract with Tah, Bayern had assured him that they would go through with the deal this summer, but now the defender feels the promises from Munich were rather empty.
Leverkusen could now take advantage of the situation and offer Tah a new contract with a release clause in the range of around €15m so that they won’t lose him for free next summer and at the same time not ruin his dream of joining an absolute top club. Such a relatively low fee would not be an obstacle if there’s serious interest from a big club.
Bayern Munich still has time to reactivate interest in Tah, but recent statements by board member for sport Max Eberl indicate that the squad planning is complete for this transfer window.
There is always next summer if the Bavarians want him that badly…
