Not too long ago, one of Thomas Müller’s horses (which he co-owns) landed a gold medal at the recently concluded Olympics in Paris. The horse, named “Checker 47”, is not done yet after grabbing a silver medal at the Longines Global Champions Tour in London (via National World).
Christian Kukuk, the rider of Checker, revealed that he thought being a footballer was cool, implying that he probably thought of pursuing a career like his future horse’s future co-owner. But he “realized around the age of 15 that my passion was horses so that’s why in the end I stopped with football and focused on the riding”. He is a fan of both Müller and his club Bayern Munich, which he thinks is “very interesting and cool”.
Kukuk is the same age as Müller, is close friends with him, and thinks the latter “is very unique and he’s such a special guy. He’s my age and has played football on the highest level since he was about 17”. The two shared moments of highs and lows and understood exactly what the other felt.
