- Old Trafford isn’t the only Premier League stadium with a leaky roof
- Water was spotted pouring into Brighton’s Amex stadium from a hole in the roof
- The leak didn’t dampen the Seagulls day however as they won 2-1
Manchester United‘s defence wasn’t the only thing leaking today at the Amex stadium.
During Brighton‘s 2-1 victory over the Red Devils water was spotted gushing from the roof of the home sides stadium making its way into the stands.
Although Erik ten Hags men will walk away extremely disappointed with the result, conceding a late 95th minute goal and having a goal own their own chalked off thanks to a bizarre offside call, they will be happy to know their stadium isn’t the only leaky roof in the Premier League.
Manchester United got serious abuse last season for the condition of Old Trafford and how it was unacceptable to have a roof leaking in the Premier League.
But today in Sussex, Brighton proved that even the newer stadiums can leak during heavy rain.
The AMEX stadium was spotted leaking during Brighton’s Premier League clash vs Man United
Water was spotted pouring into the grounds following heavy rain
TNT Sports match commentator Darren Fletcher noticed the water pouring from the roof and was recorded saying ‘it’s not just Old Trafford you see, they are everywhere’.
His co-commentator Ally McCoist commented’ What kind of weather are we getting? What are you serving us up down here.’
The Amex was opened back in 2011 as it took over as Brighton’s home ground from their temporary Withdean Athletics stadium.
The stadium has featured in the Premier League for years now since the Seagulls gained promotion to England’s top flight in 2017.
Despite the hole in the roof, it didn’t dampen Brighton’s spirits as the Seagulls thanks to a 95th minute header from Joao Pedro continued Fabian Hürzeler’s sides perfect start to the new season.
The leak however didn’t dampen the Seagulls day as they won 2-1 against the Red Devils
Fletcher and McCoist weren’t the only two to react to Brighton’s leaky stadium with many fans taking to social media to poke fun at the Seagulls, and the Red Devils weren’t excluded from the running jokes.
One ‘X’ user wrote ‘Very kind of Brighton making the Man Utd fans feel at home.’
Before a second, presumably a United fan commented ‘I’m sorry, our fountain is better..’
With a third adding ‘Someone gonna have to move and sit on the stairs’.
