Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany has been around the game his entire life and has surely seen his fair share of awkward moments. In Kompany’s first Bundesliga match as a manager, Thomas Müller entered the match in the 65th minute as a substitute for Sacha Boey. Bayern immediately scored a game tying goal and that should’ve been the headline.
However, Müller went deep into his trousers to expose a handwritten instruction from Kompany. Müller proceeded to show the tactical change to his teammates who were less than pleased.
In a recent interview (via @iMiaSanMia), Kompany laughed off the situation and said, “It worked, so Thomas can still put my notes in his underwear. A piece of paper is the easiest way to give instructions. But it’s true that the scene was funny.”
Kompany’s assistants should be required to work late nights during this international break to find a more sanitary delivery system for Kompany’s tactical changes. Here are a few suggestions:
- Carrier pigeon
- Paper airplane
- Hide it in the shinguard
- Literally anything that doesn’t touch a player’s !@#$
