Real Madrid has long been thought to be the frontrunner to land Alphonso Davies next summer. Recently, however, it has been revealed that both Arsenal FC and Manchester City are going to attempt to lure the Canadian to England.
Let’s take a look at why both clubs have interest in the 23-year-old speedster:
Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly keen on sealing a Bosman move for 23-year-old Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on signing Alphonso Davies in a Bosman move in the 2025 summer transfer window. However, the two Premier League bigwigs believe the 23-year-old Bayern Munich full-back wants to join Real Madrid, with Los Blancos eager to secure his services next year.
Arsenal can do with a player of Alphonso Davies’s qualities. Kieran Tierney is the only natural left-back in the first-team squad at Arsenal, although he is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans. The Spanish tactician has preferred utilising versatile players like Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, and Takehiro Tomiyasu as left-backs. So, the Bayern Munich star is a viable target for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s interest in Alphonso Davies is understandable. Pep Guardiola has played without a recognised left-back since Benjamin Mendy’s days as a regular for the Premier League champions. So, the Canadian international has emerged as a viable target for Manchester City. However, Arsenal and Manchester City believe he wants to join Real Madrid, although they will still look to beat Los Blancos to his signature.
Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz was tremendous during Germany’s 5-0 win over Hungary on Saturday — and it is performances like that, which have put him at the forefront of Real Madrid’s transfer interest:
Another midfielder being eyed by Real Madrid is Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz. Vitinha is also appreciated by Los Blancos, but their relationship with PSG has broken down after the Kylian Mbappe saga and they do not believe the French champions will do business with them.
While Madrid might really want Wirtz, it might be very difficult for the team to afford him given the exorbitant salaries on the squad, plus some of the hefty transfers fees already plopped down for other players.
One wild card in in a potential deal could be the presence of Xabi Alonso. If the Leverkusen coach makes the move to Madrid, it could help the Spaniards land Wirtz.
Once again, a Bayern Munich star has been snubbed from a major award shortlist. Yes, that’s right — Jamal Musiala hasn’t made it onto France Football’s top Ballon d’Or Top 30. The longstanding agenda against Bayern Munich continues. Ribéry 2013, Neuer 2014, Lewandowski 2020, 2021 … and now this.
Paul Wanner has been incredible for Heidenheim this season so far, and is starting to turn heads. The player might even receive a call up to the German National team soon. This could bode really well for Bayern Munich, who would be looking to replace the footballing legend that is one Thomas Müller.
Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz has also been tearing it up for Germany alongside teammate Jamal Musiala. This leaves Bayern with a lot to ruminate on for the coming transfer windows. And gives us a lot to talk about in this flagship episode.
In this episode, Schnitzel and Ineednoname discuss the following topics:
- Jamal Musiala’s snub from the Ballon d’Or shortlist.
- How much these awards matter for the club’s standing and attracting top players.
- Musiala’s stellar form for Germany.
- Florian Wirtz’s performances for Germany.
- Florian Wirtz or Paul Wanner?
- Would Wanner be the perfect Müller replacement?
- INNN and Schnitzel agree on multiple things (WHAT?!!!)
Per one report, Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman would prefer a move to FC Barcelona over anywhere else:
Kingsley Coman has turned down opportunities to join Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd in order to reunite with former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick at Barcelona.
Arsenal FC is still working behind the scenes to convince RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško to move to England:
Arsenal are confident of succeeding in signing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško in summer 2025 despite missing out on him in the summer just gone, CaughtOffside understands.
The Slovenia international is an exciting young talent who has attracted strong interest from Arsenal, but also from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, though he opted to sign a new contract with Leipzig this summer instead, though a departure could finally happen for him next year.
Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Arsenal remain keen on Sesko and optimistic about luring him to the Emirates Stadium, with some contacts already taking place ahead of next summer in order to try to steal a march on their rivals.
In case Arsenal can’t land the 21-year-old, it is also understood that there is a growing appreciation for Inter Milan’s in-form forward Marcus Thuram inside the north London club.
Former Bayern Munich manager and current Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann led his team to a comprehensive victory over Hungary in the UEFA Nations League. In this episode, we discuss the following:
- The lineup and the stability it offered.
- Some mouthwatering combinations across the pitch, mainly Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz.
- Aleksandar Pavlović and the wonderful things he can do on the pitch.
- Appreciation for Niklas Füllkrug.
- Appreciation of fullbacks who like to go forward!
- What this performance shows about Bayern Munich and former Bayern Munich managers.
- The joy of watching Joshua Kimmich and thoughts on his captaincy.
- Why entertaining football is not just good for the fans.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are keeping a close eye on what is going on with Liverpool FC’s Mo Salah:
PSG and Juventus are monitoring the situation of Mohamed Salah, whose Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season. If Salah does not renew, he will be free to talk to foreign clubs from January.
The representatives for Adrien Rabiot have offered him to both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, but his salary might be an issue:
TBR Football understands that the Pro League have made him a very large offer for Adrien Rabiot, as have Galatasaray, and Fenerbahce before them, but as it stands the Frenchman does not plan on leaving Europe.
AC Milan have backed away after refusing to meet his demands last week, whilst we understand Bayern Munich and Monaco have held talks but as yet no firm offers.
The same is true of England – talks have taken place with every major club in England, the big six plus Aston Villa and Newcastle in that they have all been approached by Rabiot’s people – indeed they have been speaking all summer, trying to get a deal but we can confirm he is yet to get an offer from any Premier League club.
As it stands the 29-year-old’s wage demands are understood to be around £220,000-a-week.
Rabiot was dropped from the French squad for their Nations League games and TBR Football understands Didier Deschamps has told him to get his club career sorted out.
It appears as though Rabiot’s wage demands are pushing away a lot of Premier League suitors.
So, with the season now well underway, the former Juventus midfielder will likely have to accept significantly lower wages if he is to stay in Europe. Otherwise, a switch to the Saudi Pro League looks his most likely destination at this stage.
