In this post, we will be starting a series looking at the top-performing Premier League players.
Every few weeks, we will list the five stars with the highest number of ‘Opta Points’.
The system works based on positive actions (goals, passes, tackles) and negative actions (red cards, own goals, goals conceded). The former adds to the player’s points total while the latter are subtracted. For example, goals are valued at 10, assists are worth 6, while a red card or an own goal are valued at -5.
