The decision to leave Jamal Musiala off the list of the Top 30 contenders for the Ballon d’Or, the award for the best individual player in the world, was met with plenty of shock and confusion around the world, but all the more so in Germany.
Germany’s players were not immune to the shock either and new Germany captain Joshua Kimmich weighed in on the topic.
Asked whether he could understand the decision to snub Musiala, @iMiaSanMia captured Kimmich’s straight-foward response: “No. I don’t know what criteria are used to decide. The best players should actually be on this list. And Jamal is definitely one of them. He showed that again today.”
It helps that Kimmich was speaking about his Bayern Munich teammate after Germany’s dominant 5-0 victory over Hungary in which Musiala contributed an unbelievable hat trick of assists along with a goal of his own. But hey, he’s obviously still not good enough. Right?
