Tottenham managed to sign a lot of exciting young talent in the summer, though they missed out on some key senior targets.
Now that the British transfer window has shut, talks and plans move to the January transfer window, which will open in just over three months.
To that end, we have a fresh update regarding one of Spurs’ summer targets.
Tottenham keeping tabs on Boca Juniors’ Kevin Zenón
According to Boca Noticias via Sport Witness, Tottenham face competition from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United in their pursuit of Kevin Zenón.
The Boca Juniors man, capable of playing anywhere on the left flank, has already been attracting interest from Europe despite having moved to the club only earlier this year, from Unión Santa Fe for €3.2 million.
The 23-year-old has a US$15m release clause in his contract, which is set to run until December 2028, and Boca want his suitors to activate the clause if they are to let him leave in the near future.
Zenón’s numbers at Boca thus far read: 33 games, four goals, seven assists.
A move worth making
Zenón isn’t exactly a young starlet that is yet to blossom at 23, yet the fact that he has been at Boca for less than a year and already has interest from E
urope indicates the shift among the big clubs in England, many of whom are now directly scouting players from outside the continent instead ofwaiting for them to prove their mettle at a relatively smaller European club first.
Zenón’s profile reminds one of a young Gareth Bale amid his transition from being an attacking left-back to a frightening forward.
More Tottenham News:
Of course, that is not the trajectory Zenón may trace, and Spurs would not necessarily need him to do that either. They are in the process of offloading Sergio Reguilón and talks have been circulating regarding an exit for Ben Davies in the future as well, so Spurs do need to reinforce the left-back position.
