Manchester United star Marcus Rashford and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen have been making plenty of headlines of late for differing reasons.
Jarrod Bowen put in a superb performance and registered an assist in West Ham’s impressive 2-0 win at Newcastle.
Marcus Rashford scored the first goal of the Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United.
But the rest of his performance left a lot to be desired as Man United could only draw 1-1 with Ipswich.
Ironically it was Bowen’s goal which led to Amorim – a former Hammers managerial target – replacing Erik ten Hag at Man United.
When West Ham beat the Red Devils 2-1 a month ago Ten Hag was sacked the next day.
Rashford reportedly earns over £300,000 per week at Old Trafford.
Bowen is one of West Ham’s top earners as captain. But his weekly wage is nowhere near that of Rashford.
West Ham’s star man and Man United’s enigma Rashford were left out of the latest England squad by Lee Carsley.
Goldbridge fumes at shocking Bowen and Rashford revelation
But after a number of withdrawals, Bowen received a late call-up ahead of the Manchester United forward.
Rashford used the time to head over to New York for a break which stirred debate in Man United circles.
Meanwhile Bowen proved he belongs in the England squad by making the killer third goal against Greece and scoring a beauty in a demolition of Ireland.
Now some news that has emerged about the two players which has not gone down well with one superfan.
Mark Goldbridge is fuming over a shocking revelation about Man United’s Rashford and West Ham star Bowen.
The social media football pundit, who also has a show on talkSPORT, has labelled something he has heard about Rashford and Bowen ’embarrassing’.
That being Bowen outperforming the Man United star since 2021.
“From the 2021 season to now, Marcus Rashford has had 142 appearances, Jarrod Bowen’s had 158,” Goldbridge said.
Man United superfan rages at ’embarrassing’ comparison
“Marcus Rashford’s scored 41 goals, Jarrod Bowen’s scored 45 goals.
“Marcus Rashford’s got 19 assists, Jarrod Bowen’s got 29 assists.
“If that is in any way, shape or form true, that is embarrassing mate. Since 2021 Jarrod Bowen’s got more goals and more assists (for West Ham) than Marcus Rashford (for Manchester United).
“We gave the guy a new contract, we gave him £300k a week.
“I mean look I would never say Jarrod Bowen is better than Marcus Rashford, I’m not saying that. But it is eye-opening.”
We’re not quite sure why Goldbridge is so shocked at those stats.
Bowen has consistently been one of the best attackers in the Premier League since joining West Ham in 2020 for a bargain £20.5m.
Rashford has had peaks and troughs whereas Bowen has been a constant and ever-improving beacon of light for the Hammers.
Of course playing for Man United and being the one the club looks to for goals comes with a different world of pressure than Bowen faces.
But for Goldbridge to say Rashford is still the better player is remarkably myopic from the Manchester United superfan.
Ask most Man United fans who they’d rather have in their team right now out of the two and Bowen would undoubtedly come out favourably.
Another element to factor in which Goldbridge hasn’t.
Bowen’s defensive output and attitude compared to Rashford is like chalk and cheese.
