So, Bayern Munich just whacked Dinamo Zagreb (who were doing their best Hamburg SV impression) 9-2 on the first match of the revamped Champions League first phase. Records were surely broken during that massive win, and that’s what we have today.
Thierry Henry knows ball
A couple months ago, Arsenal FC and France legend Thierry Henry managed Bayern’s new signing Michael Olise with the French junior squad and famously quipped that “you haven’t seen anything yet” with regards to Olise’s potential. Well, the 22-year-old former Crystal Palace winger is the first Frenchman to score at least twice on his UCL debut since Henry himself 27 years prior.
Michael Olise is the first Frenchman to score 2+ goals on his Champions League debut since Thierry Henry in 1997.
