Enzo Maresca believes there were three things Chelsea could have done better despite a convincing victory against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues turned in arguably their best performance of the season as they ran out 3-0 winners against the Hammers at the London Stadium to make it ten points from their first five games.
Nicolas Jackson scored twice with two well taken goals, whilst Cole Palmer added a third shortly after the break to put the game to bed, although Chelsea did have further opportunities to score.
Maresca on what Chelsea could have done better against West Ham
Chelsea have had a good start to the season and it appears the players are starting to get a better understanding of what is being asked of them.
Defensively things appear to be improving and the shutout against West Ham made it two clean sheets on the spin, whilst there was also a lot more control in midfield than previous games this season.
It was pretty much the perfect afternoon for the Blues and although Maresca was happy with what he saw he highlighted three things he feels Chelsea could have done better.
“The results and the points are always important in our business but the main thing for me in this moment is to see how we progress as a team,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“We are improving many things, even if today we could have attacked better, we could have defended better and especially we could have managed the game much, much better.
“Sometimes we need to make more passes and keep the ball, and we are in a rush and want to attack immediately, but overall I think we deserved to win the game.”
Next up for Chelsea is a Carabao Cup third round tie against Barrow on Tuesday night, before Brighton visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Maresca looking for his first Premier League win at home.
