Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres has been scoring goals at a high level since last season and the start of this campaign. As a result, there are various European clubs keen on the player, but now there’s another heavyweight in the mix.
Last week, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and PSG are the key players in the race for Gyökeres, with Spurs showing the most interest in the forward.
Meanwhile, the Blues could be out of this race as they may be eyeing a more affordable option to boost their No. 9 position. TEAMtalk reports that they are showing interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface.
The 23-year-old striker is valued at around £70 million, a much lower price compared to other targets like Gyökeres. While it’s not certain that Chelsea are out for the Swedish standout, another club is entering this race.
CaughtOffside reported on Thursday, citing sources, that if Liverpool chooses to replace Darwin Núñez, Gyökeres would be their top target. Several other major clubs are also keeping an eye on the in-form Swedish international.
