The last time Bayern Munich had a Champions League midweek game, the German record champions went on a three-game tear of scoring 20 goals.
For Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany this is as fearsome an attack as he has seen. And he has seen some high level attacks in his day, which included a long run as a Manchester City player under Pep Guardiola.

“We’re very happy that many of the boys have performed well in the attacking area,” Kompany said ahead of Wednesday’s Aston Villa match. “Now in every area. I’m convinced that these players belong at the top — Serge [Gnabry] is one of them. Just like Michael [Olise], like Kingsley [Coman], like Mathys [Tel] — I hope I’m not forgetting anyone. I’d have to name all 24 so that I don’t forget any of them.
“The boys have a lot of quality. I can compare that with my time as a player at the top level. I just hope we all stay fit. That will be crucial, and we’re doing everything we can as a club to achieve that. Then we have quality and talent.”
Kompany of course did not even mention Harry Kane or Leroy Sané. Or Thomas Müller or Jamal Musiala.
