In today’s football climate, staying at one club for maybe five years is already a lengthy period of time. On the other hand, guys like Thomas Müller are still at their first club—in his case, 24 years of being a Bayern Munich player stretching back to his academy days. The 35-year-old can certainly big himself up with that.
“I’m happy about that; I’m enjoying it,” Müller said (BR24 as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “The Allianz Arena is a special stadium in European football, always full. We’re playing with the best players here. Things are going very well at the moment. It’s nice, but it’s not really something you plan beforehand.”
It’s crazy to think that Müller has been at Bayern (since the year 2000) well before the Allianz opened (2005) or even broke ground (2002). For context, Cristiano Ronaldo made his pro debut at around the same age as Müller did. Longevity at its finest.
