West Ham United signed Niclas Fullkrug back in the summer, but he has endured a disastrous start to life in East London.
Niclas Fullkrug cost West Ham just over £27 million, including incentivised add-ons, but he has desperately struggled to impress so far.
It has been claimed that Tim Steidten is now prepared to sell Fullkrug in the summer.
And alongside Luis Guilherme, the Hammers have paid £710k per Premier League minute for the pair so far.
Fullkrug has been out injured since early September, but even before then he looked well off the pace when he did play.
It’s hugely concerning that Steidten thought the German would be a good fit for the Premier League, and I actually feel sorry for Julen Lopetegui – his system depends on a pacy front-man after all.
Now it seems to me like Fullkrug could be finished at West Ham.
Niclas Fullkrug’s time with West Ham done
The clock is ticking on the big German’s time at the London Stadium it seems.
He’s clearly not what we need to reach the next level, and he could well be finished at West Ham now.
According to Ege Gundem, Galatasaray are keen to sign the 31-year-old striker in the January transfer window.
If Gala really do want him, and he’s prepared to join the Turkish giants, the Hammers shouldn’t think twice about letting him go.
Even if that means letting Fullkrug join Galatasaray on loan with an option to buy.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has had terrible luck with injuries this season, but his attributes were never going to be suited to the top level of English football.
Pace is king in the Premier League, and it’s a commodity that the Germany international simply does not possess.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if West Ham are prepared to let Niclas Fullkrug leave this winter.
It just remains to be seen whether there are any clubs out there ready to take a punt on him.
