After a pretty successful campaign on home turf in EURO 2024, the German men’s national team has a lot of experience and veteran leadership to replace.
Die Mannschaft may turn to one of its youngest, brightest stars in Bayern Munich virtuoso Jamal Musiala.
Already among the leading players on the field at the EUROs, Musiala is increasingly well equipped to lead the charge — and is facing inquiries over whether Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann is already looking to lean on him, despite his age.
That will surely come — with time, though.
“During the EUROs, I realized that I can take on more responsibility,” Musiala explained in an interview with Welt am Sonntag (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “But each of us has to take on that responsibility on the pitch. We help each other. The more experience I gain, the more I will grow into a leadership role.”
Between Musiala, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, and others, the future of the German men’s national team looks to be in good hands.
Musiala, of course, will not be jumping into that leadership role during the upcoming international break, thanks to a hip ailment.
