Holstein Kiel did it again!
The (sometimes) giant killers, who knocked Bayern Munich from the 2020/21 DFB-Pokal, earned a 2-2 draw against reigning Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen.
And…Holstein Kiel did so with some help from an old friend — former Bayern Munich prospect Fiete Arp.
In the 68th minute, Holstein Kiel’s Armin Gigović took advantage of some sloppy defending from Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and drew a foul, which set the stage for Arp to have this moment in the sun.
Arp calmly stepped to the spot and buried the penalty kick with a hard ground-ball to to left of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký.
That draw could eventually play a pivotal role in the Bundesliga title race.
