Real Madrid are on the lookout for a successor to Dani Carvajal, who is 32 and approaching the tail end of his prime. Recently, the club have been linked with several right-backs as they head into 2025.
Earlier this summer, Mario Cortegana from The Athletic reported that Real Madrid are considering Achraf Hakimi as a long-term replacement for Carvajal. However, there are also rumors that Trent Alexander-Arnold has caught their eye.
With Alexander-Arnold’s contract set to expire next summer, Real Madrid wouldn’t have to wait until 2026, when Hakimi’s deal ends, to secure a new right-back. Nonetheless, journalist Eduardo Inda notes that the Moroccan appears to be the target that Real Madrid pursues.
On the set of El Chiringuito, the Spanish journalist revealed behind-the-scenes details regarding Hakimi’s situation at PSG.
“Achraf Hakimi is a bit tired of PSG, living in Paris, and his relationship with the coach, which is not the best in the world,” Inda said (h/t Le10Sport).
This situation could jeopardize the Moroccan’s contract extension. If that were the case, a transfer next summer could be on the cards to avoid a free departure in 2026.
