Venerable actor Robert Redford once said, “Problems can become opportunities when the right people come together.”
For VfB Stuttgart attacker Deniz Undav, that statement was extremely appropriate. With a plethora of his teammates down with injuries, Germany needed someone to step up and play the role of primary goalscorer — enter Undav in the starring role.
After closing out the last international break with a goal against the Netherlands, Undav stayed hot with a brace against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Germany’s 2-1 victory.
“It’s always nice to score goals. But to score twice for the national team and win as a result is of course even nicer. We knew that Bosnia had a strong team. After we conceded the goal, things got heated again. We’re happy that we managed to take the win,” said Undav (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Undav’s role could be increasing by the minute. Versatile, skilled, and with an overwhelming attacking mindset, Undav could be just the kind of spark that the German national team needs to bolster its offense.
