Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz must have looked around the locker room to see who would be playing in the attack with him against Bosnia and Herzegovina and wondered where all his buddies from the EURO 2024 squad might be.
Injuries, retirements, and everything in-between have caused a shake-up on the German roster for Julian Nagelsmann. For Wirtz, it was all just part of the job.
The rumored Bayern Munich transfer target was all business in assessing the team’s performance.
“I think we made it difficult for ourselves. We could have won by a bigger margin. Against the Netherlands we expect long balls to the striker. Bosnia did something similar today, but of course it will be even more difficult on Monday. The quality of the Dutch team is even higher,” said Wirtz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Monday is a problem for another day, though. For now, Wirtz and his unfamiliar mates just need to rest and prepare for another stern test.
