In the December of 2023, Transfermarkt made the first change in Bayern Munich player Aleksandar Pavlović’s value, bumping him up from €200,000 to €2 million. 10 months later, however, that value has skyrocketed to hit €50 million, undoubtedly due to an incredible breakout season for the youngster as well as the long term extension he signed over the summer.
Transferkmarkt released their new valuations on October 9th and while Pavloviç benefitted immensely, many other players saw their values drop. João Palhinha, Eric Dier, Leon Goretzka, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané have all suffered a mixture of poor form and/or a lack of playing time during the season, which has seen their values decrease. But there was another increase in the Bayern squad, as new signing Michael Olise’s great start at his new club did not go unnoticed.
BFW Analysis
It is important to remember that, despite an extraordinary amount of clubs who genuinely pay close attention to these market values, that these values are created by people who are making nothing more than educated guesses.
These people do a good job but they cannot hope to perfectly assess every player in the world. If they were able to do so, Pavlović would not have been relegated to a €2 million value less than a year ago. Looking at these numbers can be a fun thing to do but they should not be seen as definitive indicators for the monetary value of these players.
