It’s not just Bayern Munich’s men’s team who are coming up with special kits. Just like last season, Bayern’s women’s team has also released a special edition shirt.
Bayern has once again partnered with model Lena Gercke’s brand LeGer to produce a special jersey, as they did last March. The color scheme is quite similar to the previous shirt, a black background with pinkish details, although the previous shirt’s details were more coral than pink. The design is strikingly different, though; large diamonds pepper the front of the shirt, not too dissimilar to the 20/21 third kit.
The meaning behind the shirt is very important. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for the occasion, Bayern and Allianz have released a kit incorporating pink, the symbol color for breast cancer awareness.
“FC Bayern is more than a sports club and regularly gets involved in social issues. We are delighted to be working with our partners Allianz, adidas and Lena Gercke on the important topic of breast cancer prevention – and that we can therefore jointly implement a fundraising campaign for the DKMS,” said club CFO Michael Diederich. For those unaware, DKMS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping those with blood cancer and blood disorders.
It is definitely refreshing to see adidas put this kind of effort into the women’s team, not least for the good cause as well. Bayern will wear the special jersey in the top Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday. The shirt is also available for purchase in the official Bayern online store.
