Football is not a static sport, it involves a lot of movement and coordination to properly execute tactics and get wins. Running is a common aspect of the sport and while doing that extensively might seem tiring, it should not be a problem for Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany if it means his team gets results that way.
“It’s not about running more. If we’re scoring goals, then it’s all good to me,” Kompany stated (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “It’s more about how we act in and out of possession. The players are very fit and we switch a lot too. A top player has to do that, there’s no other way.”
Players like Joshua Kimmich who has high stamina and tactically flexibility are what Kompany likes. It’s never simply staying in one position and carrying out its respective role; getting your opponents to second-guess your move helps gain an advantage.
