Bears’ Allen talks highly about Tottenham’s stadium
Tottenham Hotspur hosted a NFL game at their home stadium over the international break as Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars went head-to-head in front of a packed venue. Spurs have brokered a deal with the American franchise league that is acting like a cash crop and has become a big source of annual income for the club around this time of the year.
Chicago Bears emerged victorious on Sunday, October 13th, as they clinched a 35-16 win over the Jaguars. The Illinois-based outfit had the lion’s share of support in the stands and one of their key men, Keenan Allen expressed his happiness at the result as well as being left awed at the quality of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He was quoted saying the following to Football London.
I didn’t [expect it to be that good]. D.J. [Moore] was saying ‘It’s a home game, watch this’. I was like ‘All right, I’ll see how it looks’. I’m not used to that! That was solid.”
Amanda Staveley, around whom rumours have swirled regarding an investment in Tottenham Hotspur, was also present at the venue during the NFL game though in the overall picture, it was more of the American-dominated sport getting exposure in United Kingdom.
Indeed, Tottenham have built a state-of-the-art facility that they are using beyond footballing activities as well. It is reasonable to say that they have the best stadium in the Premier League as well.
Regrettably, Spurs’ home venue is overshadowed by the Wembley Stadium, where concerts and other non-sporting related events are held. Were it not for that, Tottenham could have pocketed an even greater windfall by offering its stadium for such purposes like what Real Madrid intend to do with the newly constructed Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
