Before the season started, there were rumors that Bayern Munich were ready to sell Joshua Kimmich if the right offer came in. In the end, those whispers amounted to nothing, and the player chose to stay in Munich.
Apparently, things were more advanced than we thought. Florian Plettenberg recently confirmed (via @iMiaSanMia) that the club held talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sell Kimmich this summer. The talks didn’t go anywhere, and the player is no longer a candidate to be sold. However, it shows that he isn’t as untouchable as once thought.
Bayern Munich are now focusing on extending Kimmich’s contract, which expires next summer. He and Jamal Musiala are currently the club’s top priorities with regard to contract extensions. Alphonso Davies is basically a Real Madrid player already, and talks with Leroy Sané don’t seem to be a priority at the moment.
Will Kimmich end up staying at Bayern? Even though the contract talks haven’t gone anywhere, Plettenberg claims that there’s a good chance he’ll stay. We’ll keep an eye on negotiations as they develop.
