Eric Dier was a godsend for Bayern Munich last season when he arrived in January.
While little was expected from the former Tottenham Hotspur star, all the Englishman went on to do was earn a starting role and team with Matthijs de Ligt to stabilize a backline that was leaking oil for months before Thomas Tuchel — finally — chose to address the situation.
However, season two in Bavaria has not gone quite as well for Dier, who just cannot break through under new coach Vincent Kompany. As of now, it looks like Harry Kane’s pal will be leaving the club during the summer:
Eric Dier plays a big role in the FC Bayern dressing room and is very popular. However, he plays no role under Vincent Kompany, so the signs point to a separation in the summer. [ @Plettigoal , TUdS]
Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae have been up-and-down so far this season and with Upamecano working his way back from an injury, Dier could get called into action this weekend against VfB Stuttgart. If that happens, will he be able to show enough to convince Kompany that he has another good option to use?
Real Madrid has — allegedly — already locked up Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies to join the club in 2025/26, but is there another Bundesliga defender also on the team’s radar?
It appears so, as Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has been linked to the LaLiga powerhouse:

Bayer 04 Leverkusen are aware of it.

What an international break. With even more injuries adding up since the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Germans still found a way to win. Undav was missed up top but newcomer Jamie Leweling silenced all the doubters by stunning the Netherlands with a remarkable strike.
In this episode, we discuss the following:
- The lineup that Julian Nagelsmann picked, and the absence the injuries have left in this squad
- Tim Kleindienst didn’t do enough to earn a return
- Why Julian Nagelsmann is a genius
- The solution for Germany’s goalkeeper situation
- Looking back at squandered opportunities in recent tournaments and why the next World Cup might be looking good for Germany
- Jamie Leweling earned the #7 after a man of the match performance
Paris Saint-Germain could make a move to acquire former Borussia Mönchengladbach attacker and current Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram:
Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram ahead of a possible move in the summer, reports Calciomercato.
The 27-year-old has got off to a clinical start this season, recording seven goals and three assists in seven Serie A matches — including a hat trick against Torino last time out.
There have not yet been any contact made with Thuram or Inter, but the French giants intend to closely monitor him and consider him an option.
If Les Parisiens eventually choose to attempt to sign Thuram, they could look to avoid any negotiations with Inter by triggering the striker’s release clause, which is worth around €90 million. That route could be necessary to negotiate with Thuram and his entourage, as Inter are not keen on moving him on.
Even so, he remains on the list of players that PSG are looking at carefully as they continue to build their post-Kylian Mbappé squad.
Juventus reportedly likes RB Leipzig attacker Lois Openda:
Juventus are considering a move for RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda, who netted 28 times last season and already has four goals to his name in six Bundesliga games in 2024/25.
Even when Bayern Munich is on a break, there are ample subjects to talk about.
We will definitely tackle some hot topics brewing in Bavaria, but the German national team is also looking like things are clicking under Julian Nagelsmann, so let’s hop right into some chatter about why things are going so well at the moment:
- Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany is — gasp! — inspiring. The former Bayern Munich boss is really connecting with this group and something special could be brewing for 2026.
- Dissecting those Matthijs de Ligt rumors. Did Bayern Munich let him go because he was making too much money…or because he was spending too much time pumping iron in the gym? Or…are these stories just nonsense being floated out there?
- Details on a deal between Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and Real Madrid have leaked. Will the Bavarians be able to match what Real Madrid is offering the Canadian star? Do they even want to? Let’s discuss.
Christian Eriksen seems like he might be contemplating a move from Manchester United to Ajax once his contract expires at the end of the season:
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen could move back to Ajax next summer, The Sun reports.
The 32-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford is due to expire at the end of the season, and it seems likely he will not be offered a new deal.
Eriksen burst into the Ajax first team as a teenager, and won three consecutive Eredivisie titles before moving to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. The Dutch club are now hopeful that they can bring him back for a second spell, although there is also interest in the Denmark international from clubs in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.
Sergiño Dest’s career path has been a bit wild.
At various points, he was linked to Bayern Munich, but the outside-back clearly has an axe to grind with his former club, FC Barcelona:
⚠️ Sergiño Dest: “Xavi wasn’t honest with me”, told @sport.
“In the summer before I went on vacation he said to me: I am counting on you, don’t listen to the media… then when I came back from vacation he said to me: Ok, you have to go”. pic.twitter.com/xOrTQopul0
