Domestic football is back this weekend after another long international break that actually felt like it was much longer than usual.
It wasn’t though, it was the normal length. But these breaks from domestic football just seem to drag on and are very boring during the season!
EXCLUSIVE! Surprise Chelsea player impressing training ground staff, but not for his quality….
Of course, this one was livened up a bit by England announcing that former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will become their new manager in the new year, and there was also some Chelsea players amongst the goals for their countries. So we still had some drama and action and managed to get a bit of our Chelsea fix.
But The Blues are back properly on Sunday evening as they prepare to face current league leaders Liverpool. However, a win at Anfield would place Chelsea just one point behind Arne Slot’s side, should they manage to pull that off.
Two suspensions for Enzo Maresca
The Italian head coach will be pondering who he will use to replace the suspended Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana, two key selections at the back for Maresca so far.
I believe that the two players who will come in to replace them is Renato Veiga at left back, and Tosin Adarabioyo at right centre back, as pictured above. And then the rest of the starting Xl pretty much picks itself as long as there are no extra injuries or any fatigue after the international break.
Veiga has proven his worth so far this season, and Tosin has been knocking hard on the door of Maresca and breathing down the neck of Fofana with some pretty solid performances too.
Chelsea will go to Anfield without any expectations to win and the onus will be on the home side. This should suit Maresca and Chelsea with the pressure off a bit, and they may well now fancy going there and getting something, which they are more than capable of doing.
