Chelsea face their biggest test of the season against Liverpool on Sunday and former Manchester United star Gary Neville has given his prediction for the game.
The Blues, who are unbeaten since the opening game of the season head to Anfield to take on the league leaders looking for a first win at the famous ground since 2021.
Enzo Maresca has taken people by surprise with the good start he’s made to life at Stamford Bridge and the Blues currently sit fourth with 14 points from a possible 21.
Neville gives Liverpool vs Chelsea prediction
Chelsea have a 100% record on the road this season but face a tough task to keep that record up and Maresca has warned his players in the build-up they can’t rely on Cole Palmer to solve their problems.
Liverpool have already suffered defeat at Anfield this season to Nottingham Forest and Chelsea have the players who can cause them problems, with the likes of Palmer and Jadon Sancho, who Maresca recently described as a special player.
The Blues are winless in their last nine meetings with the Reds, a record they would love to end on Sunday, but Neville has backed a Liverpool win.
“I think Liverpool will beat them because I think Chelsea, they are a bit younger,” he told The Overlap.
“Liverpool 3-1. I think it will be a big atmosphere that day, I think Chelsea will just, I think Liverpool can be a humbling place when you go there as a team for the first time. It’s the first time this team has gone there properly.”
Chelsea will have to be at their absolute best to get a result and their task will be made tougher with two of their first choice back four in Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana missing through suspension.
The Chelsea backline has come under criticism this season, but there have been signs of improvement in recent weeks and they will need to be at the top of their game to keep the Liverpool attack out.
