Chelsea face a tough run of fixtures between now and the next international break and Cole Palmer believes everybody will be looking at the Blues to see how much they have improved.
Enzo Maresca’s men start their tough run with a trip to Anfield on Sunday before further league games against Newcastle, Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Blues have made a good start to the season and currently sit fourth with 14 points from a possible 21, but are now going to face a real test of their credentials.
Palmer on Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures
Maresca has warned his players in the build up to this run that they can’t rely on Palmer to solve all their problems.
The 22-year-old has picked up where he left off last season and already has six goals and five assists in seven games this season, with the Blues needing him to be at his best as they look for a first win at Anfield since 2021.
Chelsea has surprised people with their start, but Maresca recently shut down talk of them being title contenders, and this next run of games will really show how much the Blues have improved as a team.
Palmer believes everyone will have their eye on Chelsea and how they do between now and the November international break.
“Everyone will be looking at us to see if we’ve made progress and improvement or if we’re just in a good spell,” he told Chelsea’s website.
“If we can put in some good performances and get a good number of points then it will be really good for us this season.”
Chelsea have the opportunity to lay down a marker over this next run of games and show they mean business this season, but they must take it one game at a time and not look to far ahead.
It will be interesting to see how Chelsea deal with coming up against the top teams but it’s something the fans and players should relish as they look to get back to competing for the title.
