A report has revealed that one Chelsea player was offered to a current Champions League club in the summer just gone however, a move did not come to fruition.
Chelsea had a number of players that they were trying to push out the door in the summer but of course, to sell players you need one key ingredient, a club that wants to buy them.
EXCLUSIVE! Barcelona eyeing Chelsea midfielders, Blues could capitalise on their interest in Barca defender – and also now eyeing Benfica centre back!
Players such as Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell were so clearly being pushed out the door by Chelsea in the summer, who wanted to sell both players. But to sell said players, they needed suitors, or more accurately, suitors who were willing to pay what Chelsea wanted and do the kind of deal Chelsea wanted. For example, no loan moves and just permanent sales. Dry loan moves with no obligations to buy just wouldn’t help Chelsea with players they wanted to sell.
Anyway, a move did not happen for either player and now they are just in a deep squad place at Chelsea and are unlikely to get very many minutes at all this season. Chelsea will push again to sell them in January and then if not, next summer.
Chilwell offered to Dortmund
According to Sky Germany, Ben Chilwell was offered to Borussia Dortmund in the summer, but they ultimately decided against signing him.
And I am sure that Dortmund would not have been the only club that Chelsea offered Chilwell, or other players they were trying to sell, to in the summer.
It seems that for whatever reason though, Dortmund decided against signing Chilwell, and maybe his bad injury history might have had something to do with that.
So we will see what happens in the next couple of windows for the former England international, but I do hope he secures a good move away soon.
