When Paris Saint-Germain hits the new grass at the Allianz Arena later today, the players will be attempting to take down Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but the club’s front office and scouts could be taking a close look at Joshua Kimmich.
Kimmich is believed to be a primary transfer target for Les Parisiens in the summer of 2025, when the midfielder will be a free agent:
Paris Saint-Germain have been closely monitoring Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich in recent months, with reports from Germany suggesting a move nearly took place this past summer. As the January transfer window approaches, new developments have emerged regarding the potential move.
The Ligue 1 side aren’t the only club targeting Kimmich, though. Barcelona have also expressed interest, along with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, who are looking to strengthen both their midfield and defense ahead of 2025.
Kimmich’s future at Bayern Munich has changed since Vincent Kompany became head coach. The versatile German midfielder, who can also play as a right-back, had seemed poised to leave when his contract expires next summer.
Although Kimmich is still at Bayern, he hasn’t signed a contract extension yet. With the January transfer window nearing, he’ll be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any club.
TBR Football reports that Bayern Munich are doing everything they can to convince Kimmich not to leave on a free transfer next summer.
Last week, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Kimmich is personally overseeing his contract talks with Bayern Munich, with just some background advice and guidance. He views this contract, which could extend beyond 2025, as the most important of his career.
It still does not feel like Kimmich is ready to make the jump to a new club, but if he did, PSG would have to ward off the likes of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. That might prove to be too tough of a task for PSG to manage given Kimmich’s popularity with the coaches and front offices for those clubs.
In the end, it still feels like he wins this battle with Bayern Munich by keeping his current salary (or getting a raise) and will ink an extension.
FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is having a terrific season with 20 goals and two assist in 18 games across all competitions. Even with that, the Catalans are reportedly keeping an eye on Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres (which makes them no different than just about every major club in Europe):

Aston Villa could be lining up a move for ex-Bayern Munich prospect Malik Tillman:
According to The Boot Room, former Bayern Munich and Rangers ace Malik Tillman is now on Villa’s radar ahead of the January window.
It is believed that Tillman is “surfacing” as a potential signing for Villa, following his fine start to the season for PSV Eindhoven.
Emery’s side face competition from Tottenham for his signature, but he could be a player worth tussling for, especially going off his reputation from previous spells.
“One thing about Malik Tillman that’s marked his recent performances is a real quality in terms of turning over the ball; the guy can tackle,” said Rangers journalist Jonny McFarlane on Tillman during his time at Ibrox.
“He’s got those telescopic limbs; he’s a big, tall, strong lad. And he’s just got the ability to nick the ball away and act as a kind of brick wall. No one’s running past him, no one’s running around him because he’s as strong as an ox.
“In many ways, if you can get him really, really firing to his level, he’s actually built for Scottish football. It’s very rare that you find a player who’s got the physical stature to cope with the rigours of our game and the skills to deal with it.”
Manchester City might have to buck up a little more if it really wants to land Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush:
Manchester City have been told they must stump up £60m if they wish to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, Football Insider claims. The 25-year-old striker has been in supreme form this season, scoring 10 goals in nine Bundesliga games. Naturally, he has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Man City the latest side to register their interest. The Egypt international is said to be keen on making the “step up” to an elite club where he can compete for trophies and regularly feature in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich likely knew that it was going to be in for a frustrating match and also probably knew that it would have to endure a deep-sitting FC Augsburg side if it wanted to somehow try to pull out a victory.
