Man United will now entertain loan offers for out-of-favour winger Antony, ahead of the January transfer window.
Manchester United Football Club made some positive acquisitions over the summer, with Erik ten Hag further strengthening the playing squad. However, money is tight and the Dutch gaffer may now rely on player sales before he can spend further.
Among the faces who could leave is Antony. The Brazilian, who cost mega-bucks from Ajax a couple of years ago, has failed to settle down following some off the field issues. He’s now fallen out-of-favour, being overtaken by the likes of Amad and Alejandro Garnacho in the pecking order.
Football Insider have now provided the latest information on Antony’s future, claiming that United are now set to ‘entertain’ loan offers for the winger.
It’s deemed Antony is no longer part of Ten Hag’s plans, with the club now keen to remove the Brazilian from their wage bill as early as the January transfer window.
Antony is yet to start a Premier League game this term, featuring just twice off the substitutes bench.
A loan move is more likely than a permanent one at this time, due to the fact that United would command a hefty fee to allow the 24-year-old leave, as they want to recoup as much of the £80m back as possible that it cost to sign Antony.
United are open to a loan move with an option to buy, though a large portion of his wages would have to be covered by the potential buying club.
Honestly, this makes sense. Antony hasn’t been involved at all recently and if United can move away from him, it could offer the manager more wiggle room when it comes to bringing in new players over the next few transfer windows.
