Chelsea play football against this evening ladies and gents, and it comes in the form of the Europa Conference League over in Greece.
Chelsea play Panathinaikos in the league stages of the competition, and they have to play away from home in the impressive Athens stadium.
BIG EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea exploring ambitious move to sign Manchester City centre back as well as watching TWO Benfica defenders!!
Enzo Maresca was speaking to the media later yesterday afternoon when he and his squad touched down on Greek soil, and of course, he was asked about his team.
The Blues boss has left many key players at home for this game, which is a very wise decision to save on fatigue and also the effect that travel can have too.
But there are many familiar faces as well as some academy players making up the squad.
Fairly easy to predict the starting Xl
Maresca was asked about goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who was left with suspected concussion in his game for Denmark U21s last week. This was the only real doubt for the game.
However, the stopper is fine and will be starting the game, confirms Maresca.
When asked about Jorgensen in the press conference, Maresca simply replied, “Yes, he is here and he is going to play.”
So with that in mind, I feel that the starting Xl tonight will be this:
Jorgensen; Disasi, Tosin, Badiashile, Veiga; Fernandez, Dewsbury-Hall, Felix; Neto, Mudryk, Nkunku.
This is the ‘second string’ starting Xl that Maresca has mainly been using for these games, but the fact that Enzo Fernandez didn’t start against Liverpool, suggests that he is now in this Xl and will start tonight.
With Maresca leaving all his right backs at home, it will obviously be Axel Disasi who starts at right back tonight, unless he tries to put Marc Cucurella there which I cannot see.
